Running Dogs takes part in two competitions a year and has its own awards at the end of the year for students.
Every year RDP competes in VHSL’s one-act competition. They compete at the district level and, if possible, regional and state levels. Three years ago RDP took first at all three levels with the show Too Much Light Makes the Baby Go Blind and this year, took first at states with Reflex Action.
RDP is also a part of The Cappies in the National Capital Area. Each year students from member schools called Cappies watch and review shows and then vote for the best in categories such as ensemble, lead actor/actress, makeup and many more. Last year RDP was nominated for Male Dancer, Hair and Makeup, and won for Creativity with their use of ASL in their production Pippin.
At the end of each year, RDP holds The Bridget’s in which students vote for superlatives such as Best Actress, Most Dedicated, and Most Likely to Live in a Box.
