Shows

Throughout the year Running Dog Productions (RDP) puts on a total of four shows, two of which are on the main stage. Below, they are listed in order.

Fall Play

It's a Wonderful Life

RDP puts on a play, with shows typically in December. Our most recent play was It’s A Wonderful Life (pictured left) based on the movie of the same name. The play for the 2017 – 2018 year is Shakespeare’s Midsummer Nights Dream and will be directed by senior Paisley LoBue.

Competition One Act

Up next in the schedule for the year, following the fall play is our competition one act, with show dates through February-March. Shows take place at the school and we take the show to the VHSL One-Act Competition. The competition starts at the district level, where the first and second place winners move onto the regional level of competition. There, again, the first and second place winners move on to the state competition, the final level. Along with awards for the overall play, awards are also given out for outstanding actors at all levels of the competition. We have had numerous wins and outstanding actors and actresses from our school. Most notably, the 2013-2014 production of Too Much Light Makes the Baby Go Blind won first place at every level of competition. Currently, our one act for the 2016 – 2017 is Reflex Action which took first place at Districts, second at Regionals and took first at States.

Spring Musical

Following the one act is the spring musical with shows mid to late April. Our most recent musical is Pippin. The musical for the 2017 – 2018 year is TBA.

Senior One Acts

To conclude each year, the seniors are given the opportunity to cast and direct their own one acts. All of the one acts are performed on two nights in late May/early June. These nights are very special, allowing the seniors to show all they’ve learned from their time at Running Dog.
